Journaling Prompts
Using writing for reflection
Journaling can help some people organise thoughts, notice patterns, or reduce mental overload. It does not need to be detailed or frequent to be useful.
Writing is for you. There is no requirement to read it back or share it.
Gentle prompts you might try
You could begin with:
“Today felt difficult because…”
“What’s been taking up space in my mind is…”
“One thing that helped, even a little, was…”
“Right now, I feel…”
You do not need to write complete sentences.
Important reminders
Stop if writing increases distress
There is no correct way to journal
Some people prefer not to write at all — that is okay
If journaling brings up difficult feelings, support may be helpful.
