Anxiety, stress and overwhelm counselling

Professional counselling for anxiety and stress-related difficulties

Anxiety and stress can show up as a mind that won’t switch off, a body that feels tense or alert, or a constant sense of pressure to keep going. You might feel overwhelmed by responsibilities, stuck in cycles of worry, or exhausted from holding everything together.

Many people arrive feeling frustrated with themselves for not coping “better”. Counselling offers space to approach anxiety and stress with curiosity rather than judgement, without pressure to fix, suppress, or eliminate them.

What this counselling focuses on

  • patterns of worry, overthinking, and mental overload

  • physical responses such as tension, fatigue, restlessness, or panic sensations

  • emotional responses to responsibility, expectation, or uncertainty

  • coping strategies that help short-term but cost you longer-term

  • building steadier boundaries and capacity over time

Who this may be helpful for

This may help if you feel under constant pressure, struggle to relax, experience ongoing worry, feel overwhelmed even when things look manageable, or notice stress affecting your health or relationships.

When this may not be the right support

Counselling does not replace crisis services or medical treatment where these are needed.

What working with our service looks like

Weekly 50-minute sessions, online, by telephone, or face-to-face, delivered within our ethical and clinical governance framework.

If anxiety or stress is taking up more space than you would like, counselling can offer room to pause and reflect.

We are not a crisis or emergency service and cannot provide urgent or intensive mental health care. Counselling is offered within clearly defined ethical and clinical boundaries.
