WHAT WE CAN HELP WITH

Low mood and depression

If you have been feeling low, withdrawn or unlike yourself, counselling offers a space to talk without pressure to explain everything or feel differently straight away.

What low mood can feel like

You might feel tearful, flat, disconnected or unusually hard on yourself. Everyday tasks or things you usually enjoy may feel more difficult. There may be a clear reason, or you may not know where to begin.

You can ask for counselling whether or not you have a diagnosis.

How counselling may help

Your counsellor can help you explore what you are experiencing, what has been happening in your life and how you relate to yourself and others.

You can talk about loss, pressure, loneliness or experiences that feel hard to share elsewhere. Together, you can review what feels helpful and whether this support is meeting your needs.

Counselling and other care

Counselling can be part of your support alongside medical care. We do not diagnose depression or prescribe medication. If medical assessment, urgent help or more intensive support is needed, counselling alone may not be enough.

Getting started

You do not have to choose a topic or describe your difficulties perfectly before booking. We can find a counsellor for you, or you can choose a qualified associate counsellor from the directory.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, online across the UK or face to face in Birmingham. Your first appointment is a chance to begin talking and see how it feels to work together.
